Mermaid High Tea

The Table

When talking about mermaids, it’s all about blue and green. To decorate the table, I mixed blue, green, and ivory dishes I found at discount stores. I particularly love shopping at Tuesday Morning, HomeGoods, Ross Dress for Less, T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, and even scout Goodwill for dishes. January is the best time to shop after Christmas sales and this lovely silver and teal garland was on sale for 75% off. There’s nothing I love better than finding bargains! After adding seashells, some sparkling white Christmas picks, teal berries, and beads, it looks like an under the sea dream!

To complete the mermaid look, I added mermaid statues from Hobby Lobby, some gorgeous jellyfish collectibles I picked up at the coast, and then some fish tank castoffs I found at my local Goodwill.

The Room

In keeping with the under the sea theme, we used rope, nets, shells, and moss to decorate the chandelier, the pillars, and the stairs. The beautiful teal windchime hanging from the chandelier came from Home Goods. Living moss is messy, and the shells break if they fall, but once they’re in position, they look really pretty.

Though I love the puffy look of the paper flowers, I’ll probably stick to the colored fans. They’re easy to keep and store for later use. The Dollar Tree Mermaids make great giveaways for young visitors but for some reason they didn’t have too many at this time of year. I found the Chinese fans and artificial flowers at the Dollar Tree store too and just selected the colors that would match my theme.

    I got to get a sneak peek at this tea and you HAVE to experience it yourself! All the food was delicious and so fun, I don’t think I can pick a favorite. I would highly recommend the Blue Barnacle Tea. A great experience for anyone who may be obsessed with mermaids like I am 🙂
