At Houck Hollow, we’ve long dreamed of the day when we could host writing retreats and even larger conferences. To kick it off, we’re excited to introduce three different types.
Teen Writing Workshop:
to qualify, participants need to be…
- Between the ages of twelve and eighteen
- Enrolled in a state or homeschool program in the previous year
- Love books
INCLUDED WITH THE TEEN TICKET:
- Two days of classes packed with mind-blowing programming!
- Keynote addresses presented by acclaimed, bestselling authors.
- Exclusive book signings at the conclusion of each day.
- Personalized feedback on your introductory writing samples.
- Lunch
Because the maximum participants for this workshop is 50, authors can spend quality time mentoring and answering questions in detail. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity an aspiring author won’t want to miss.
Published Author Writing Retreat:
to qualify, participants need to be…
- A published author
- Actively engaged in writing
INCLUDED WITH THE PACKAGE:
- By checking in on Thursday and checking out on Tuesday, you will have a very long weekend devoted to uninterrupted writing.
- With more than two hundred birds in residence at Houck Hollow, you’ll find inspiration around every corner.
- Writing that holiday novel? We’ve timed our getaways to coincide with the holidays, and we decorate for all of them.
- Need meals? We can provide them. Just let us know your dietary restrictions. You can join us for home-cooked dinners or just enjoy the free cocoa and coffee bar. It’s up to you.
- We also arrange a local book signing for most groups on Friday or Saturday of each week. Each author can opt in or out; it’s up to you. Just let us know in advance.

- By checking in on Thursday and checking out on Tuesday, you will have a very long weekend devoted to uninterrupted writing.

- Need meals? We can provide them along with menus from local restaurants. Just let us know your dietary restrictions. You can join us for home-cooked dinners or just enjoy the free cocoa and coffee bar. It’s up to you.
- Though you are given plenty of time to write, we also work with you one-on-one to provide encouragement and support, answering questions about the business of publishing and providing tips about the writing process.
- With daily group sessions and lectures from best-selling authors, attendees will come away inspired, ready to tackle their project, and have a support team to help.
