The Table
Fruit, flowers, butterflies, bugs and everything sparkle is what’s required for a fairy garden tea party. Since I couldn’t find any fairy napkin rings, I used gold butterflies instead. My yellow butterfly placemats made a great table runner too!
The teapots we used were my purple butterflies made by one of my favorite stores, Blue Sky Clayworks. I used their floral dessert plates in pastel colors as well. For the teacups and decorations, I just chose assorted flower print colors in pastels and clipped a butterfly to each cup.

Butterflies and flowers ruled the day here but our chandelier was still filled with green shamrocks which didn’t upset the look at all.
The Bugs
This was a fun party because it was a bit hands-on for the kids. My guests both young and even not as young as they once were, loved helping make the fruit and veggie bugs for the tea party.
I set out a variety of fruits and cut-up veggies for them to choose from including orange wedges and apple slices for wings. We used celery and cream cheese as a base for the veggie bugs and ladyfingers or speculous cookies with Nutella for the fruit bugs.
Candy eyes are a must-have in a variety of sizes and luckily I keep a large supply on hand, buying them up at discounts after Halloween. We stuck them on with a dab of cream cheese or Nutella. Peanut butter or greek yogurt would work as well.

For the veggie bug wings, we used sliced cucumber and mushrooms and multicolored tomatoes and olives for the heads and bodies. Chives make great antennas.

The fruit bug wings were made of strawberries and rainbow fruit leather and we mixed up different berries for heads and bodies.

As you can see, this activity was fun for multiple generations. The only problem…grandma wanted to wear the fancy fairy wings. 😉
